What is Organic Farming?

Organic farming is an integrated farming system that strives for sustainability, the enhancement of soil fertility and biological diversity whilst, with rare exceptions, prohibiting synthetic pesticides, antibiotics, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and growth hormones.

Our commitment to organic

Since 1994 – when Eurofood obtained the certification for production and commercialization of organic products – our focus has shifted  strongly to the category of healthy and natural products.

After years of commitment in this field – along with the growing importance of organic products for both us and the global market – we inaugurated a new production facility exclusively dedicated to the processing and bottling of citrus juices from organic farming in January of 2014.

The location of our factories, just a few hours away from the orchards in Sicily, allows us to process the citrus fruit shortly after harvesting. This guarantees the quality and freshness of the final product.

In addition, this proximity to the orchard represents a significant advantage in terms of supply chain traceability. It also simplifies direct relationships and contacts with local growers.

Over the years, Eurofood has also obtained Bio Suisse and JAS certification to export its organic products to countries with special restrictions and principles different from EU BIO.

In 2019 Eurofood also obtained Demeter certification for biodynamic products and the Flocert Fairtrade certification which pays particular attention to the positive impact for local producers in developing countries and the sustainability of the supply chain.

Thanks to our commitment and the quality of our products, Eurofood has become one of Europe’s leading producers of citrus juices and derivatives from organic farming.
